Lady Godiva On A Scooter

Another in the line of interesting not-naked protest pics that have been creeping onto this page ever since the beginning. Provocative self-bondage is a protest tradition that seems to share common philosophical ground with naked protesting, and is almost equally satisfying to the voyeuristic impulse. This photograph is from the protests surrounding the Republican Convention last year, as previously mentioned:
A great pose and an awesome picture, from BaseTree.
This picture (from this page dated August 2004) suggests much but explains little. Military units used against civilian populations (as “anti-terrorist” units generally are) are notorious for abuses, so one presumes that’s the story here:
The caption reads: “A group of Indian women shed their clothes and protest outside the Indian Army Assam Rifles anti-terrorism unit barracks in Imphal, Manipur.”
Lest anyone forget Lady Godiva, the patroness saint of naked protesters, here’s a book cover with entertaining artwork:
Ride on!
Looks like a sit-in, and these look more like protester gags than any sort of bondage game. Unfortunately this is one of those pictures that comes without any context:
Pretty girls with their mouths taped shut — what’s not to like?
Here are some bicyclists in New Zealand who disapprove of oil companies and their customers:
Police ordered naked cyclists to get their gear back on in Auckland yesterday, after arresting their leader for alleged indecent exposure.
Even so, motorists were treated to a “21-bum” salute, equating to the number of scantily-clad but helmeted cyclists who rode from Symonds St to Karangahape Rd to protest against the world’s dependency on oil-fuelled transport.
This apparently has something to do with protest against the Austrian government:
Thanks to Indie Nudes for the link.
Here’s a picture taken from this report of the June 2003 anti-WTO protests:
Caption: “Naked protesters in Sacramento don mud to appeal to the
gentler side of the police and those the police served at WTO.”
